The University Library Department of Archives and Special Collections houses the Special Collections, Archives, and Rare Book Collections of CSU Dominguez Hills, and maintains the department's digital collection pages. The University Library Department of Archives and Special Collections also serves as the home of the Archives of the California State University System.

The University Archives serves as the institutional memory of CSUDH and documents the functions and activities of its community by collecting historical records.

California State University Archives
CSUDH is the repository for the CSU System Archives, consisting of documents, oral histories, minutes, memos, and reports of the CSU System, including records of the Board of Trustees, Chancellor's Office, Academic Senate, the Master Plan for Higher Education, and other offices and committees.

CSU Dominguez Hills Rare Book Collections
Collections include the local history collection, the Buckner Collection of American Popular Fiction, and the Newbery Award Children's Book Collection. The recently acquired Glen Schwendemann Collection includes books dating from the 16th century to the 20th century, on topics ranging from ancient history and religious studies to exploration by Europeans.
